FA100UFTC256S1 is the 256 GB member of UFLASH’s FA100 UFS 3.1 series: a 3D-NAND-plus-controller device on the JESD220E standard, running HS-Gear4 over two lanes, in a 153-ball FBGA measuring 11.5 x 13.0 x 1.2 mm and rated -40°C to +105°C.

Key figures

  • Nominal capacity 256 GB; the ordering table prints the user area as 238.47 GB.
  • Without write booster: sequential write 160 MB/s, sequential read 1,650 MB/s, random write 39,000 IOPS, random read 115,000 IOPS.
  • With write booster: sequential write 1,100 MB/s, sequential read 1,680 MB/s, random write 262,000 IOPS, random read 205,000 IOPS.
  • Interface: UFS 3.1 per JESD220E, HS-Gear4 x 2 lanes, M-PHY 4.1 (PWM-G4 from 3 to 72 Mbps in LS mode), UniPro 1.8; reference clock 19.2, 26 or 38.4 MHz.
  • Supply: VCC 2.4 to 2.7 V (2.5 V typical) for the NAND, VCCQ 1.14 to 1.26 V (1.2 V typical) for the controller and interface.
  • Active current at VCC 2.5 V: 165 mA sequential read, 145 mA sequential write, 120 mA random read, 60 mA random write; at VCCQ 1.2 V the same four cases are 565, 520, 450 and 445 mA.
  • Boot partitions default to host-configured size; RPMB is 4,096 KB by default and 16,384 KB at maximum.

This part is the one the manufacturer’s own table understates

The manufacturer has no dedicated UFS page – its UFS URL redirects to the general products page – and the only published UFS figures sit in a comparison table on the EC100 (eMMC) page. There, FA100 is given as a single column labelled 128GB~256GB with sequential read up to 1,600 MB/s and sequential write up to 550 MB/s, both with write booster enabled. Those are the 128 GB numbers. This document’s own write-booster row for the 256 GB part is sequential read 1,680 MB/s and sequential write 1,100 MB/s – the read is 80 MB/s higher and the write is double what the comparison table prints for the range this part sits in. We publish the part document’s figures and point at the difference; we are not choosing which of the manufacturer’s two statements to believe.

Where else the two sources disagree

Package height: the ordering table in this document prints 11.5 x 13.0 x 1.2 mm, while the manufacturer’s product page prints 13mm x 11.5mm x 1.0mm for the same FA100 series. The 0.2 mm difference is exactly the kind of thing that decides whether a package clears a board stack-up, and neither source is marked as superseding the other.

About the temperature figure, and what the document does not claim

The document states an operating range of -40°C to +105°C and markets the series for vehicle electronics among other uses. That is where the evidence stops: there is no qualification or certification statement anywhere in it – no standard reference, no grade designation, no endurance figure (P/E cycles or terabytes written) and no lifecycle position. We therefore file this part by its temperature range alone and not by a grade word. A -40 to +105 °C envelope is the kind of range a qualified part usually has, but “usually has” is not a certificate, and for a design that will sit in a vehicle the qualification document is the thing to ask the manufacturer for – not this page.

Performance test conditions

Both performance tables are stated as clean-state results without OS overhead at HS-Gear4, two lanes, Rate A, with chunk size 512 KB for sequential and 4 KB for random. The write-booster table assumes the feature is enabled; the other assumes it is not. Random results are printed in IOPS here, unlike the EC100 eMMC documents in the same family which print random 4K results in MB/s.

Source and status of this document

The underlying document is “UFLASH UFS3.1 FA100 Series Datasheet”, 39 pages, covering two ordering codes in one file, version history a single row: 1.0, Initial release, 2026.08. It reached us through the supply chain and no manufacturer-hosted copy was found, so no datasheet link is published. Two provenance weaknesses: the file’s own PDF metadata does not describe it at all – the title reads “Industrial eMMC Datasheet” and the subject field names a different vendor part entirely (FEMDRM016G-A3A56) – and the page numbers in the footer run two behind the physical pages, so the sheet printed “36 / 37” is the 38th page of the file. What we can verify is that the ordering table names this part number directly, with its capacity, user area, package and shipping format.

Who makes it

UFLASH is the product mark of 紫光闪芯 (Shanxin), which its own company profile describes as the core storage enterprise of the New Unigroup group (新紫光集团); the mainland operating entity is 紫光闪芯科技(成都)有限公司, established February 2024. The FA100 UFS line appears in the manufacturer’s own product comparison table alongside its EC100 eMMC and FC100 lines.
